Will not start Bad Glow plug Replace glow plug
Igniter battery low  Charge or replace battery
Fuel mixture way out
bulletGently close mixture needle
bulletreset at manufacturers recommendation
Bad fuel Flush tank and replace fuel
Low or no compression
bulletTighten all bolts and screws and glow plug
bulletCheck glow plug gasket
bulletPlace a few drops of oil around plug and slowly rotate prop counter clockwise watching for air bubbles around plug.  If bubbles detected replace glow plug gasket 

 

Insufficient priming
bulletOpen throttle fully and place finger over carburetor  or exhaust and rotate engine counter clockwise.  
bullet You should be able to see fuel in the fuel inlet line.
Engine flooded Remove glow plug and rotate engine several times.
Engine Start and Quits

 

Engine Starts but slows down and stops
bullet Mixture too rich 
bullet Close high-speed needle valve 1/2 turn and start again. 
bullet Repeat until engine is running smoothly.

 

Engine Starts speeds up and then quits

 

bulletMixture too lean 
bullet Open high-speed needle valve 1/2 turn and start again. 
Repeat  until engine is running smoothly.

 

Fuel tank problem
kinked fuel lines, clunk hole too small, junk in tank etc
bullet Get another tank that you know is good and  tape it to the side of the fuselage 
bullet Disconnect the old tank and connect up the temporary tank. 
bullet Start the engine and see if  your problem goes away.
Quits when igniter removed Glow plug bad Replace Plug
Low end Fuel mixture to rich Readjust mixture
Gold plug to cold Try hotter plug
Quits on throttle up low end mixture to lean Readjust mixture
Sluggish acceleration  low end mixture to rich Readjust  mixture
Detonates
(makes knocking sound)
Too much nitro Try fuel with less nitro
Compression to high Install additional head gasket
Over propped Drop one load factor down
Glow plug to hot Install cooler plug
High speed mixture to lean Re-adjust Hi speed needle
Erratic RPM  Bad Fuel Flush tank and replace fuel
Air Leaks
bulletCheck fuel line between tank and carburetor
bullettighten all screws and bolts between crankcase and carburetor 
Power loss Worn piston/cylinder Overhaul or replace
Worn or damaged bearings
bulletInspect and replace bearings as needed 
bullet replace engine
Increased vibration Worn or rusty bearings Inspect, clean or replace as needed
Loose mounting bolts or engine mount to firewall Check mounting screws and tighten as needed
Cannot adjust carb to 
run rich enough
Fuel tubing to small Replace tubing with larger size
Obstruction in spray bar, tank or line. clean spray bar by flushing with alcohol
Obstruction in vent line inspect, clean as needed
