Glass

A 2 x 5 sheet of tempered glass laid over a sheet metal with grid lines on it is great for cutting covering and balsa.  If you are always careful to use only fresh sharp blades when cutting it will not scratch the glass.

With an assortment of magnets and a little imagination it can double as a building jig.
